- [EN/JP] When context is clear, speaker/author will use 多様体 to mean a manifold or a variety. Manifold is usually distinguished using an appropriate adjective, e.g. complex manifold = 複素多様体. When clarity is needed, variety is usually called using the full name "algebraic variety" 代数多様体.
